Musings of a Happy Farmer – May 13, 2013

Sunrise in the morning is my favorite time of day.  I love the juxtaposition of the calm morning peace with the bursting energy I feel.  I’m a morning person, always have been.  Being in the garden as the dawn breaks is magical, and there is always some new thing to see.  The fog river flows over my ridge line through a saddle about three hundred yards from my house.  Being slightly higher and on the warmer, southern face of the ridge, we are rarely enveloped.  Instead, it is as though we suddenly live on the edge of a vast, white river, complete with the sound of running water as the fog flows through the large evergreens across the draw from me.  As the sun rises, the river retreats towards the ocean, often burning off in midstream, an endless, ghostly procession warmed to disappear in morning life.
